Angela Rangel is a celebrated Brazilian visual artist and art educator whose creative journey spans decades, beginning in 1995. Renowned for her versatile approach and vibrant works, Angela’s art serves as a bridge between nature, cultural heritage, and social consciousness. Through her paintings, she conveys dreams, personal experiences, and a profound message about the urgent need for environmental preservation to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Artistic Achievements
Angela’s artistry has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, a testament to her talent and impact on the visual arts landscape. Some notable achievements include:

2019: Awarded 3rd place (bronze medal) for her work showcased at the Military Museum of the Army, Forte Copacabana, as part of the “100 Years of the French Military Mission in Brazil.” Her artwork was selected to join the museum’s permanent collection.
2020: Received 3rd place (bronze medal) at the Abrammil Exhibition for her evocative piece, Maré Alta.
2022:
2nd place (silver medal) at the SBBA Exhibition for her works Resistência Tupinambá and Corcel.
1st place (gold medal), 2nd place (silver medal), and Honorable Mention at the IGHMB Virtual Exhibition for her paintings Maria Leopoldina, a Libertadora, Maria Filipa, and Tupinambá. These works were published in the prestigious IGHMB book, Brazil: 200 Years of Independence 1822 – September 7 – 2022.
Artistic Themes and Approach
Angela’s work is celebrated for its dynamic exploration of themes ranging from the beauty of nature to social and emotional narratives. Her artistic roots trace back to her childhood, when she began private painting lessons at the age of 10, learning from award-winning artists in various styles and techniques. She further honed her craft at renowned institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) and the Parque Lage Art School.

Environmental Advocacy Through Art
Angela’s deep connection to the environment is evident in her projects, particularly in Paraty, where she combined her love for Carnival with environmental advocacy. She created art using recycled materials, such as discarded umbrella fabrics, transforming them into acrylic paintings that captured the essence of Paraty’s historic houses, landscapes, and beaches. Her exhibition, SOS Paraty, underscored the importance of sustainable art practices.

Currently, Angela is working on an installation titled SOS Cerrado, dedicated to raising awareness about the endangered Brazilian biome. This ambitious project is set to debut in 2026, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to environmental preservation through art.

Leadership and Vision
As the President of the State Society of Visual Artists (Seap-Rio) in Rio de Janeiro, Angela oversees exhibitions and sales at Galeria 344, fostering a thriving art community. She believes that art transcends barriers, connecting people and inspiring change.
