Yngvil Birkeland, Norway

Yngvil Birkeland (1968) lives and works in Volda, at the west coast of Norway. She is a painter and glass artist, and in addition she works as a music teacher at the local high school.

Yngvil wants her pictures to be a catalyst, starting a process in the viewers, which allows them to make their own personal stories based upon her art. The pictures are mostly abstract expressionistic, presenting a visual landscape that opens for several interpretations.

Yngvil has studied both music and arts, and has also attended several specialized art courses:

Volda University College – Bachelor degree in music and arts (2002-2006), Master level art course (2012)

Specialized art courses: Peter Esdaile (acrylic painting), Nydalen Art school (Nudes, Intuitive painting), Sund summerschool (oil painting), Glassforum (glass fusing)

International Exhibitions:

Barcelona Showcase, Casa Batllo (Barcelona)
