Sirlei Hansen, Brazil
Artist:Sirlei Hansen, Brazil
Sirlei was born in Estrela, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Sirlei Sulzbach recently started using an artistic name, Sirlei Hansen in honor of her Danish greatgrandfather Johann August Hansen, who used to make artistic works, among others. The following generations inherited his love for the arts, creating paintings, monuments and sculptures. Sirlei lived with art since her childhood, having in her mother, the artist Branca, a great source of inspiration. She has participated in exhibitions in Estrela, Lajeado, Nova Prata and Santa Cruz (RS).
In 1990, she moved to Porto Alegre, attended Visual Arts in the Institute of Arts at UFRGS, she graduated in 1997 and in 1999, she got her degree with major in Visual Arts.
She produces works of arts in different artistic languages (drawing, engravings, objects), but she considers painting her major passion. According to Sirlei: “The need of preservation, sensibilization and harmony with the nature or a big challenge usually motivate the themes in the painting. In nature, everything interacts, completes itself and attracts! Creating in contact with nature makes possible to understand and to cherish life, the essence of being. Its simplicity presents richness of colors, shapes, textures, movements, lines, lights, shadows and teases the imagination. Chance becomes value. It is necessary be driven by intuition and emotion. The symbiosis with nature determines what has to be exalted through painting, thus the imaginary becomes true and visible. People are invited, through painting, to establish a harmonious and respectful connection with nature and their interior!”
